ACTON, Mass. – January 11, 2018 – Sparx Hockey, inventors of the Sparx Skate Sharpener, today announced it has been named the Official Skate Sharpener of The Pond Hockey Classic. The Pond Hockey Classic is a series of pond hockey tournaments comprised of New England Pond Hockey Classic, Lake Champlain Pond Hockey Classic and Montana Pond Hockey Classic. In total, more than 450 teams compete in the three tournaments, with more than 4,000 players from across the United States and Canada.

“We are excited to once again partner with the Pond Hockey Classic to bring Sparx Hockey and our professional-level skate sharpening outside to the thousands of players who participate in these exciting and fun-filled events,” said Steve Jones, Vice President Marketing, Sparx Hockey. “Playing pond hockey can take a toll on your blades, but with Sparx Hockey on site providing sharpening services, players will never have to worry about losing an edge or not having the best possible sharpening when they hit the ice.”

The Sparx Sharpener is an affordable, automated product that allows anyone, anywhere, with no prior skate sharpening experience, to easily sharpen hockey and figure skates with pro-level accuracy. Thousands of customers in the U.S. and Canada are currently sharpening their skates with Sparx, including individuals, families, teams, rink operators and pro shops.

In addition to providing the convenience of on-site sharpening to all Pond Hockey Classic participants, Sparx Hockey will also be donating all proceeds of its sharpening services during the tournaments to local charities.  The multi-year agreement also provides Pond Hockey Classic participants with exclusive Sparx Hockey offers.

“Sparx Hockey is a great partner of the Pond Hockey Classic and the ability to sharpen skates on-site quickly and with professional-level quality is a unique and valuable offering that we are now able to provide to every player at all three of our tournaments,” said Scott Crowder, Commissioner, Pond Hockey Classic. “Players now don’t have to worry about their skates, they can now focus on having fun, battling the elements and playing the sport the way it was meant to be played.”
